Description
Aeroflot is Russia’s de facto national carrier and largest airline. Founded by the Russian government on 9th February, 1923, Aeroflot is among the world’s oldest airlines and one of Russia’s most recognised brands.
Through its hub at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, Aeroflot operates flights to 95 destinations in 48 countries (28 destinations in Russia). Inside Russia, Aeroflot has four branches - in St. Petersburg, Sochi, Magadan and Krasnoyarsk. The airline pays a special attention to its presence in the Russian market, especially Siberia and the Far East.
Aeroflot is Russia’s largest air carrier; it accounts for over 42 per cent of international scheduled and 13.7 per cent of domestic traffic in Russia (with its subsidiaries, around 20 per cent).
In 2008, Aeroflot flew 9.27 million passengers (13.5% growth to 2007), and with its subsidiaries, as the Aeroflot Group, 11.6 million passengers.
Aeroflot is committed to deploying the most effective information technologies, including e-ticketing since 2006, to increase service quality and economic efficiency and relies on modern systems to power its Internet bookings.
